About the artists (some english)

This weekend, you can experience the sounds, smells and impressions from the viking era.

Between 600 and 700 Viking enthusiasts from around the world gather to celebrate one of the most exciting eras in Nordic history.

The market is idyllically situated in the woods between the mounds from the Iron Age and the sea.
This forms a historical and natural framework for the Viking market. During the week before the weekend market built up a well-organized «kaupang» with more than 150
Viking tents and up to 700 vikings.
Here you can experience craftsmen, blacksmiths, tough fighters, jugglers and musicians.

Authenticity is important

Clothing, tents and equipment are as authentic as possible, and participants in the «town» during the market days will demonstrate their crafts to the public.
The craftsmen use the same materials, equipment, tools and methods used in the Viking Age.
The Vikings, who lives in linen or wool tents, cook their food over a fire, practice their crafts and sell goods.
They talk with the audience, play with the kids, watch the jugglers, listen to music, compete in the Viking sports and let the audience get an insight
into how a market might have taken place during the Viking era.

Varied entertainment
Theatre performances, jugglers, singers, musicians and storytellers, we have it all.
There will be a presentation of combat techniques, glima-wrestling and other viking sports.
Several viking ships will attend. Great to look at, but also possible to sail with – if Tor don’t turns very angry.

In a separate area for children, they can have a go at some Viking activities.
The kids will there have the opportunity to participate in the Viking plays and games.
